Good morning. This newsletter will be sporadic for the next few weeks, so be sure to check out our Blue Sky and Instagram accounts for current info.
Following this newsletter is today’s Emanuel’s Daily Action Email from Augusta – the daily action along with a link to his great list of important actions and information. Today’s Top Action repeats the request that we call our representatives in the House to tell them to approve the senate package with DHS funding stripped from it when it arrives today and to also ask them to oppose the “MEGA” (Make Elections Great Again) bill.
Three new actions from Hancock County Democrats:
Action 203: Your party needs you! (1/31)
Action 204. Protect the Vote (1/31)
Action 205 Maine Legislation 2/2 – 2/6 (1/31)
More Hancock County Democrats actions are found here.
Also, a new action from the Bold Coast Civic Alliance, (1/29) on discussing denying funding for ICE, impeaching Pam Bondi, and other items.
More BCCA actions here.
A lot of research goes into these additional actions, so be sure to read them!
And THANK YOU to supporters who have been donating to our ActBlue fund! Planning events and maintaining the website and email list take money, so these donations are appreciated!

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
AND URGENT ACTION
TODAY
Monday 2/2/2026
From the MPA: The Bangor City Council has shared that they intend to review an ordinance at the GovOps meeting TODAY, MONDAY, 2/2 at 5:30 to officially DISBAND the Bangor City Council Advisory Committee on Racial Equity, Inclusion, and Human Rights (ACREIHR).
We need to FLOOD them with emails in support of the committee and their work, and against this dangerous ordinance and what it could mean for our community. Even if you don’t live in Bangor, please send an email and share with those you know. Bangor is the largest city in our region and if the council pursues this disbandment it will have repercussions in our surrounding communities too.
BELOW IS A LINK TO A PDF WITH TALKING POINTS. Sometimes we may lean towards anger – we need to not do that right now. Please review this as you write and share with others. We’re going to need everyone to defeat this because there’s no guarantee it would fail in Council.
Email Recommendations In Support of ACRE to City Council – PDF download from a Proton drive.
The list of the nine Bangor City Councilors is here. THANK YOU!
NEXT NO KINGS PROTEST
MARCH 28, 2026

In 2025, millions of Americans came together in nonviolent protest to oppose the growing authoritarian actions of the Trump administration and affirm that this nation belongs to its people, not to kings. Since then, people have continued to rise up nonviolently against the Trump administration’s ongoing brutality and abuses of power, including the latest escalation in Minnesota. The No Kings Coalition is activating an immediate and ongoing nationwide digital organizing effort leading up to our next mass mobilization on March 28, including a flagship event in the Twin Cities.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH
In celebration of Black History Month, we will be sharing local Black History and Black Community resources throughout the month.

Atlantic Black Box, based in Portland, Maine, empowers communities throughout the Northeast to take up the critical work of researching and reckoning with our region’s role in colonization, the slave trade, and the global economy of enslavement. This grassroots historical recovery movement is powered by community historians and guided by a broad coalition of scholars, community leaders, educators, archivists, museum professionals, antiracism activists, and artists.

Emanuel’s Daily Call to Action:
Action Monday February 2nd: Ask Pingree and Golden to Support HR 7148 – Federal Funding Package + Ask Them + Our Senators to Oppose “Make Elections Great Again” MEGA
Good Morning Folks, it’s Groundhog Day and our first Monday in February. A big win in Texas where a Democrat beat the Republican by 14 points in a state Senate race in a district Trump won by 17 points! It’s been 50 years since a Democrat won that district.
Top Action to Take Today:
This week the House will be voting on H.R. 7148 , the funding package without DHS included.Contact Representatives Pingree and Golden to ask them to approve this package with funding for DHS to be acted on separately.
If you have done the above, let’s take contact our Congressional Representatives to ask them to oppose the “Make Elections Great Again” (MEGA) This act would require voter ID, ban mail in ballots, and use the Republican lies about widespread fraud in elections to allow the Federal Government to supersede state’s rights in voting procedures. Go to 5calls.org for more information and a script for this call/contact. (“Proving Voter Fraud” is what the Federal raid on Fulton County Ballots with Tulsi Gabard?? in the lead, from 2020 is all about.)
